The past couple of years numerous new games have appeared in shops and on the educational market. These games do not only attract attention because of their attractive design or thematic tone, but also because of their challenging content. Games have clearly become more than a mere pastime and can help develop and reinforce a very wide range of social and cognitive skills provided a targeted approach is followed. KHBO’s Teacher Training and Healthcare departments combine their expertise in the development of educational strategies and the optimisation of the quality of life of the elderly and of people with a handicap. The use of educational games and the effect measurement and dissemination of these games may introduce a drastic innovation within the social service and education sectors.
